POLICE COMMISSIONER ENGAGES LASU UNION OVER STUDENT DEATH, VOWS PROSECUTION
By Olayiwola Ibrahim // The Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, led a team of senior officers of the Command to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the accident scene earlier today.
The visit was to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident and to commiserate with the university community.
During the assessment, the CP engaged with representatives of the Lagos State University Students’ Union.
The CP commended the students for maintaining calm, orderly, and responsible conduct despite the painful loss of one of their colleagues.
He urged them to sustain the peace and avoid any actions that could escalate tensions.
CP Tijani Fatai assured the student body that the Command is treating the matter with the seriousness it deserves.
He confirmed that investigation into the incident is ongoing and the suspect involved is in custody.
The suspect will be charged to court by Monday for proper prosecution in line with the law.
The Commissioner further reiterated the Command’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the protection of all residents, especially students.
He appealed to the public to remain law-abiding and allow the legal process to take its full course.
The Command extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, the Students’ Union, and the entire LASU community.
