FCT POLICE BOSS INSPECTS ONGOING MEDICAL SCREENING EXERCISE FOR PERSONNEL, SAYS THE MEDICAL SCREENING EXERCISE WILL BE CONTINUOUS

By Olayiwiola Ibrahim // The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi on Thursday, 8th May 2026, inspected the ongoing medical screening exercise for personnel of the Command at the Metro Area Command, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to the health, wellbeing and operational readiness of officers serving within the Federal Capital Territory.

The medical screening exercise, which commenced on Monday, 4th May 2026, is currently being conducted at the Metro Area Command as the pilot phase and will subsequently extend across all Area Commands and Divisions of the FCT Police Command.

Speaking during the inspection, the Commissioner of Police stated that the initiative became necessary due to the physical and emotional demands associated with policing the nation’s capital.

The CP stated that the exercise would be a continuous assessment programme aimed at monitoring the health status of officers and men, providing professional medical advice, and ensuring timely intervention where necessary.

The CP further assured officers that the exercise was not punitive in nature and that all medical results would remain confidential in line with professional medical ethics.

He added that personnel would be individually counseled and guided on how to manage their individual health.

With the approval of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, the Command has also made arrangements for psychological counseling, physical exercise and follow-up medical care for personnel requiring further attention after the screening exercise.

The FCT Police Command reiterates its commitment to prioritizing the welfare, fitness and mental wellbeing of its personnel in order to ensure effective service delivery and improved public safety across the Federal Capital Territory.
