LAGOS POLICE BEEF UP SECURITY FOR EID EL KABIR, CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATIONS
By Olayiwiola Ibrahim// Lagos // The Lagos State Police Command has ordered massive deployment of personnel across the state to ensure safety during the Eid-el-Kabir and Children’s Day celebrations, Commissioner of Police CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, said on Thursday.
The deployment covers worship centres, critical infrastructure, highways, motor parks, recreation centres, major link roads, entry and exit routes, and other strategic and vulnerable points.
CP Fatai said the move follows directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, to guarantee public safety at Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres and other key locations throughout the festive period.
To ensure a hitch-free celebration, the Commissioner has directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, Police Mobile Force personnel, Counter Terrorism Units, EOD-CBRN operatives, and Traffic Officers to maintain high visibility policing, enforce crowd control, and implement robust anti-crime strategies in their jurisdictions.
Officers are also to strengthen security along linking roads, highways, city centres, and other strategic locations to protect lives and property and ensure free flow of traffic.
CP Fatai warned all operatives to remain professional, courteous and civil while discharging their duties.
The Commissioner felicitated with Muslim faithful in Lagos, wishing them a joyous, peaceful and crime-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
In his words, he extends warm greetings to children across the state as the 2026 Children’s Day coincides with the Eid festivities.
He urged children and youths to shun violence and crime, embrace positive values, and stay security conscious and vigilant at all times.
CP Fatai further enjoined residents to report suspicious persons, movements or incidents to the nearest police station.
He appealed to travellers and road users to cooperate with police operatives deployed across highways and other duty posts to ensure a peaceful and orderly celebration.
