Ihunbo Chieftaincy matter: Activists petition Ogun CJ, alleges attempt to pervert justice by defendants
A group, the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ) has
petitioned the Ogun State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Olatokunbo
Olapode, CON, accusing the defendants in a suit no: HCL/31/2016, of
planning to bribe the presiding Judge, Justice S.M. Owodunni of the
Ipokia High Court division with sum of #13million to pervert the
course of justice, saying the defendants action were the Law of the
land as stipulated in section 15(5) of the amended 1999 Constitution
of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The group however alleged that Mr. Titus Babajide (a.ka.-Oppressor),
Mr. Michael Adkekanbi Akinola(a.k.a.-Aro),Mr. Fatai Isiaka, Mr. Ayo
Akinola, ACP Samuel Titus and host of others were in connection with
this alleged bribery scandal as they were caught on Wednesday 5th
April,2017 around 3.47pm at Ajibola Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited in
Ogosha ,Ajegunle area, Ogun State in a meeting held for four hours
where they concluded arrangement to bribe the presiding Judge in
Chieftaincy case between Prince Emmanuel Olabimtan &ors and Chief Oke
Adeyeye in respect of Ihunbo Chieftaincy declaration of 1956 where
order of rotation were spelt out.
Meanwhile, investigation had revealed that the security personnel have
been drafted to the Ihunbo community area on Monday ahead of Thursday
ruling of the Court in order to forestall any breaking down of law and
order in the ancient town.
This was contained in a Petition Letter dated 19th April, 2017 and
forwarded to the Chief Judge of the State and Speaker of the State
House of Assembly, which a copy was made available to Journalists on
Monday, declared that some suspected notorious criminals in support of
Chief Adeyeye through their Lawyer,Mr Gbeke Laditan had argued for the
striking out the case, while the Plaintiff/Agbotejoye through their
lawyer, Barrister Adebayo Ayodele claimed that the next ruling house
as stipulated in the 1956 Ihunbo Chieftaincy Declaration should be
allowed to produce the monarch of the ancient town .
While appreciating the effort of Chief Judge of Ogun State in
sanitizing the judicial system of the State from illegality, frivolity
and corruption, the rights group insisted that some bad elements,
particularly, the aforementioned criminals in the area, were trying to
systematically bribe the presiding Judge on the matter to subvert the
course of Justice in a suit No: HCL/31/2016, insiting that the justice
should be done on the case before Justice Owodunni of Ipokia High
Court of Justice as justice should be for all the parties in any
matter.
According to the CHRSJ, “Before the adjournment date of Thursday 27th
April, 2017.In order to rule in their favour or to absolutely strike
out the matter, which the sum of N12million to N13million had been
earmarked for the project before the purported travel out of the
country by Mr. Babajide Titus the leader of the terror gang on Friday
7th April, 2017 to evade the arrest of security agent over burnt of
Ihunbo ancient palace. They are planning to lure the presiding Judge
through the defendant counsel to pervert the course of justice on the
case”.
The Petition read in part, “As we proceeded in the course of our
investigation, we were reliably informed from impeccable sources that
a lot of people have suffered similar fate in the hand of these
aforementioned suspected people, defendants and their cohorts ,most
especially in the hand of Mr. Titus Babajide(a.k.a. Oppressor) in
anytime that they have Police or Court matter with anybody in Ogun
State and Nigeria in general, he has been using influenced to subvert
the cause of justice which is against the law of the land.
“This makes us to believe that Mr. Titus Babajide and his co-travelers
could involve in this alleged bribery scandal and this confirmed by
the criminal case dated Wednesday 23rd March, 2011 which involved
Fatai Isiaka,Sanu Adenle and Fase family and as well the case of
November 2011 to July 2012 when he allegedly killed one Late Rasaki
Alapinni at Iyana-Agosasa,Idiroko Town in connection with one Mr.
Sikiru Olaigbe,a Chairman of National Union of Road Transport ,Idiroko
branch by criminally took over the post of Late Alapinni after
claiming his life illegally and untimely and then took huge amount of
money through the back- door to the Police, Department of State
Security(DSS) and Magistrate/Judge that handled those matters before
they were satanically free from these case but we believe they would
not escape the God’s judgment with their collaborators in crime”.
The group therefore wants the Presiding judge to treat the matter with
the full rigour of the law without fear or favour in order not to
allow anybody to circumscribe and scrimmage the sagacious and sagacity
of the true justice, truth, fairness and rule of law.
