PFIPC Fraud: Adeyemi Denies Meeting Gbajabiamila, Promises to Surrender
The self-acclaimed Director-General of the illegal Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Mathew Adeniyi Adeyemi, has denied ever meeting with the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, as fresh twists emerge in the alleged multi-billion-naira fraud scandal.
Speaking from his hiding place during a 16-minute telephone interview with activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), Adeyemi maintained that he had never held a physical meeting with Gbajabiamila.
Responding to VDM’s question on whether he had at any time met the Chief of Staff to discuss the PFIPC, Adeyemi answered, “No.”
He, however, claimed that he spoke with someone he believed to be Gbajabiamila on about three occasions through his late associate, Dolapo Tanimola. When asked how he could confirm the identity of the person on the calls since they were not video conversations, Adeyemi admitted that he could not be certain.
Asked whether it was possible that the Chief of Staff had no knowledge of the alleged fraud, Adeyemi declined to either confirm or dismiss the possibility, saying, “I wouldn’t say he is lying and I wouldn’t say he is saying the truth.”
He added that this uncertainty was one of the reasons he had appealed to President Tinubu to order a thorough investigation into the PFIPC controversy.
Adeyemi’s latest remarks come about 72 hours after lawyers to Gbajabiamila, led by Kemi Pinheiro (SAN), issued a legal notice demanding a retraction of allegations linking the Chief of Staff to the PFIPC scandal and threatening a ₦10 billion defamation suit.
The Presidency has consistently maintained that the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council is a fictitious organisation with no official recognition.
Adeyemi is currently facing criminal prosecution before the Federal High Court in Abuja over his alleged role in operating the illegal body. The case has been adjourned until July 14, 2026.
Earlier, during a press conference on June 25, 2026, Adeyemi alleged that Gbajabiamila demanded a 48 per cent share of the PFIPC’s purported ₦27.4 billion take-off grant, amounting to about ₦12.5 billion, and also claimed the Chief of Staff received ₦400 million in relation to appointments connected with the organisation.
Gbajabiamila has categorically denied the allegations, insisting he has never met or had any dealings with Adeyemi.
Meanwhile, President Tinubu has directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the PFIPC scandal and submit its findings within 30 days.
At the end of his conversation with VDM, Adeyemi also pledged to surrender himself to either the Nigeria Police Force or the Department of State Services (DSS).
