INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, has directed Administrative Secretaries across Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT to standardise operations and improve coordination ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in Lagos, Amupitan said INEC must avoid administrative inconsistencies and learn from recent off-cycle elections, including the Osun governorship election.

Key areas of focus include:
•Continuous Voter Registration and PVC distribution
•Election logistics and materials management
BVAS, IReV and other electoral technologies
Recruitment and training of ad-hoc election staff
Financial and administrative compliance
He also announced a proposed Administrative Secretary Master Operational Tracker, which will provide real-time updates on each state’s level of election preparedness.
Amupitan warned officials against political interference, shortcuts and poor administrative discipline, stressing that early planning and neutrality are essential to delivering credible elections in 2027.
