EXPLOSIVES: 4 Police Officers Land in Trouble over #3 Million Bail Money

This adage best caption the ordeal of corrupt police personnel who use their position to milk the citizens of their hard earn money as four policemen attached to Zonal Intervention Squad Zone 2 base at Obada Oko in Ogun State, Southwest, Nigeria are now telling Inspector General of Police monitoring unit Alagbon Annex all they know about the recent arrest of four persons from Wanalack Hotel Gberigbe area of Ikorodu and collected N3million for their bail.
Security Monitor gathers that the policemen storm the Hotel and whisked away the Hotel owner, Alhaji Semiu Tijani, a 51 years old building contractor and 2 others.
After the arrest the contractor and one other victim paid N500,000 each to bail themselves on the way before getting to their office while Alhaji Semiu Tijani and the Hotel owner were taken to their office at Obada Oko, Ogun State and detained.
Security Monitor further gathers that the remaining two victims were detained till the following day without explaining to them the nature of the offence they committed. The hotel owner later perfected his bail coughing out a total sum of N2.5million
Our reporter, learnt from one Hon. Abayomi ,a residents of the area, that the Hotel owner paid a N2.5million the following day and before he was released, it was then he was informed that all the previous arrest at his residence was from the men of Zonal Intervention Squad, Obada Oko.
“In order to secure the freedom of Alhaji Semiu Tijani we petition the IGP who ordered IGP monitoring team Alagbon to investigate the case. IGP investigation however unravel the 4 policemen who perpetuated the crime.
Subsequently, they were arrested and are now being detained at Alagbon. The source further told SECURITY MONITOR that “It is a case of kidnapping, extortion and robbery in the sense that the corrupt officials never report to Ikorodu Division Police station or any other nearest police formation as the law demands before carrying out the action. Aside that, they forcefully collected the sum of N3m and lastly they were armed as at the time of their action. So, if I say it’s a kidnapping, extortion and robbery case, I challenge anyone to come out and prove me wrong”.
Though the 51 year old Tijani is still in their custody, not as a suspect but as a witness according to Hon. Abayomi.
Another resident who spoke anonymous said officers from the Zonal Intervention Squad has been coming here to exhort residents without securing life upon the challenges we faced around Ikorodu area,the officer make life unbearable as they always come and arrest innocent people and extort huge amount of money from them.
“Our men can’t move freely anymore because of the activities of these policemen from Obada Oko we urged the police authority to come to our aid and do something fast” the residents lament.
