Yahaya Bello Shines as Opposition Parties Join APC in Kogi
Addressing the mammoth crowd in Okpo, Governor Yahaya Bello who was represented by his Deputy, Chief Simon Achuba said their decision to swiftly join the ruling party was apt considering the assurance that the party will rule beyond twenty nineteen.
He applauded their senses of judgement and assured them of equal rights and privileges in the party.
Governor Bello promised to complete the on going projects in the area and further initiate more to bring a rapid development that is expected in modern societies.
In a remark, the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Ayoade Folashade advised women to support Governor Bello whose passion for women empowerment is unparalleled.
She explained that she is the Only female SSG in the nineteen Northern States of the federation noting that the current administration is gender sensitive.
Mrs Ayoade promised to join hands with other women in the cabinet to further create empowerment programs that liberate them from poverty and overdependence on their male counterpart.
Similarly, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Edward Onoja commended the immediate past Chairman of the area, Mr Yunusa Olofu and an astute politician from Imane, Mr Emmanuel Okeme for leading thousands of their followers to the party.
He said the mammoth crowd that decamped marked the obituaries of opposition party in the state and advised the the people of the state to move along with the winning team.
Chief Onoja urged the people of the area to shun ethnicity and tribal sentiment emphasising that Governor Bello within sixteen months in office has surpassed the achievements of past administration.
He recalled the ordeal he passed through in navigating his village during his secondary school days explaining that the deplorable conditions of the roads usually forced him to spend his holiday elsewhere.
While listing the achievement of the present administration to include: youth empowerment, health interventions, electricity, water projects, social services among others, Onoja appealed to the people to cherish whom God has used to improved on their socioeconomic conditions.
Addressing the crowd on the reasons for joining APC, the Former Chairman of the Council, Mr Yunusa Olofu said he was moved by the numerous achievements of the present administration and the unity between Governor Bello and his Chief of Staff.
In their various remarks, the Commissioner for Environment and Physical Development, Mrs Rosemary Oshikoya and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health Matter, Doctor Ahmed Attah, described the event as a unique phenomenon which has brought the people together.
They both commended Governor Bello for linking the area to the national grid.
Also present at the event was an astute politician from Ankpa, Chief Linco Ocheje who applauded Bello for recommending the people of Eastern Senatorial District for ministerial and the Resident Electoral officer’s positions.
He also commended Bello for sponsoring twenty one members of the Council of Ulamau to Mecca this year.
