Award Wining Woman Police Shines in Lagos as DAAR Media Group Awards Her

By Tricia Chinyere, LAGOS/ For Josephine Ogene, an inspector of police, “doing my job as a traffic police gives me joy. This is one job I do as a choice and the fact that people admirer my performances add more joy and instil me to do more”  Ogene told newsmen with smiles on his face as the famous Africa Independent Television, AIT joined thousand of Lagosians to demonstrate how good it is to be hardworking.  Ogene is a traffic warden attached to Sabo Police Division, Yaba area of Lagos. The inspector was on Thursday awarded by DAAR Communication owners of Raypower, AIT and Faaji FM  for outstanding performance in traffic control in the state.

The Managing Director of Radio Services in Daar Communication, Mr Ambrose  Shomide presented the award to her while Ogene was her duty post at Agnes bus- stop ,Sabo-Yaba Road, Lagos.

Shomide said that the award was part of the organization corporate social responsibilities to honour people that had exceptionally distinguished themselves in their jobs.

He said that the organization received many calls, requesting for an award for Ogene as number one traffic warden in the state with exceptional and outstanding performance.

“While we were decorating her, motorists and others who knew her performance were singing her praises as number one traffic warden.

According him, this shows that our choice of her for the award was not  wrong .” People testified that anytime she is on duty, no matter the traffic situation, she clears it within short time,” Shomide noted.

Speaking to newsmen, Insp. Ogene who had put in more than 20 years in the job, said she enjoys controlling the traffic as people passing bye appreciated her.

“I feel so happy to do the job. It gives me more joy when people appreciate me on duty. I have gotten nine awards before now. Daar communication makes it 10 awards.

Recently there is a day I will never forget when a bullion van hit me while controlling the traffic.” I have been in Sabo Division since 2011. I am grateful to God and people that I am a celebrated Police woman,” she said.

Abiola who is a retailer at the Agnes bus stop commences the effort at easing traffic bottlenecks in the area, adding that she always see Ogene in happy mode anytime she controls traffic

Taye Ogunjubi is a commercial bus driver, he said that the officer  performance is  second to known in that axis

Another bus driver said she deserves more than awards because under the rain and sun she is here smiling on the road.
“We call her ” Iron Mama”. When she is on duty, nobody meet traffic around here. She knows the job and she does it with passion.
