Fulani Herdsmen: Youth Group Appeal To Buhari

0

The apex Yoruba youth group, Yoruba Youth Socio-cultural Association (YYSA) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency call Fulani herdsmen to order. The Problem of terrorism has been Nigerian/African greatest challenge since more than a decade ago. Boko Haram started as a group of hooligans among almajiri people in the Northern part of the country. Gradually, Boko Haram became a group of terrorists by embarking on assassination of some political leaders and religious heads. But due to the carelessness of the President Jonathan’s administration and some deceitful religious leaders surrounded him, they made him believe that those terrorists were being used by enemies of Christianity. It was too late before the then government took necessary steps and that led to serious waste of lives and it created a lot of psychological problems for people living in the north.

We commend President Buhari’s administration for achieving that and we pray for him to be able to curb it totally. Moreover, the Fulani herdsmen had been known to be nomadic people moving around with their cows across the country. They have unleashed nefarious activities many years ago in Southwest by allowing their cattle to eat up Yoruba people farm products and scared them with harrow. Later, they began to add some other evils like armed robbery, rapping, kidnapping and killing of our people. Meanwhile, Nigerian Government is trying to encourage youths to engage in farming to ensure diversification of the nation’s economy. The number one factor militating against farming today is the Fulani herdsmen. When an average Nigerian youth understands the fact that after he/she has planted crops, Fulani herdsmen can just come around with their cattle and eat up everything in a day. Our people have been shouting for help from Mr President to get something done very quickly to put an end to Fulani herdsmen’s evil act in Southwest. The Fulani herdsmen’s menace had spread across the nation, almost all states are complaining. The worst part of it is that they are now killing people not only in Southwest but all over the country. Moreso, if President Buhari does not act fast, Nigerians will perceive it as an ethnical bias and Fulani herdsmen will systematically become another Boko Haram or Farming Haram in Nigerian. And mind you, Agbekoya struggle may reawaken.
