WATER CRISIS HITS ILORIN AS STATE WATER CORPORATION DOWN TOOLS

Ilorin the capital city of Kwara state is at the moment experiencing scarcity of water as residents groan over government insensitivity to the sector. SECURITY MONITOR’s Dare Gazal who went round the ancient city confirms that the residents are experiencing serious hardship due to the continuous industrial action embarked upon by the Kwara state Water Corporation. Long queues, persistence lamentation and walking miles away from ones house was said to be the ordeal of the residents as the metropolis witnessed eighteen days of empty tanks.

It was learnt that the water board has been on strike for the past two weeks and no efforts is made by the government to address the situation.. A staff of the water corporation who spoke to our correspondent says “the corporation is on strike due to lack of funding and failure by the government to pay their salaries”.

As at press time our correspondent is closing on the Water Ministry to seek further clarification and next point of action by the government to put a lasting solution to the perennial water insecurity that always engulfed the city. details later
