3 ‘ONE-CHANCE’ ROBBERY SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN KWARA

Three suspected ‘one-chance’ robbers were last Tuesday nabbed by men and officers of the Kwara State Police Command for dispossessing one Mrs. Eyitayo Ojo of N20,000.

The suspects, Mohammed Abass, Ahmed Toyin and Sulaiman Shehu, who operated with a Mazda taxi cab marked Kwara XB 422 LFF, according to the victim, robbed her while on transit to Gaa-Akanbi, and threw her out of the moving cab.

Parading the suspects in Ilorin on Friday, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ajayi Okansanmi, said,”On Tuesday, one Eyitayo Ojo of Gaa Akanbi Area of Ilorin, boarded one Mazda taxi cab with the number plate Kwara XB 422 LFF after cashing the sum of N20,000 from bank.

He continued: “She raised the alarm after being robbed and thrown out of the taxi by the suspected robbers”.

Okasanmi hinted that members of the public joined the police in chasing the vehicle, which was successfully stopped and the three suspects were apprehended, adding that the cab’s driver was on the run, while three suspects arrested are undergoing investigation.

The exhibit recovered from the suspects were; one Mazda Taxi car and N20,000 cash.

Okasanmi, however, assured the state’s residents that the command will not rest until all devilish acts are stopped, adding, ” there is no hiding place for them. The command and its men will fish them out, we are ready for them”.

He also advised the people of the state to report any suspicious person or any strange act noticed around them to the nearest Police Stations.

One of the suspects, Sulaiman Shehu, however, confessed to the alleged crime, saying, “this is my first operation. They just introduced me to their group; they didn’t tell me they were going to rob; they told me we were going to work”.
