“QUEST FOR QUICK MONEY FORCES ME TO KIDNAP MY CHINESE BOSS” Suspect
The menace of kidnapping is spreading like fast in Nigeria nowadays Chinyere Anyi, SECURITY MONITOR’s special Lagos Correspondent reports how Lagos Police Command nabs one of those criminal elements.
A 26-year old, construction company staff, Amos Loco has confessed how he planned with his colleague to kidnapped their company boss, Mr Kumming to become rich .
Mr Kumming was kidnapped last week and had since released after he reportedly paid a certain amount of money as ransom.
Amos was among the four suspects paraded by the police for their alleged involvement in the abduction and the kidnapping Kumming at the Lagos state police command
Three other suspects are Adebowole Johnson,39, Oluwadare segun, 32 and a Niger republican who is Mr Kumming’s driver, Videynouz Taiye, 28.
He revealed that after he was employed last year as site worker, he discovered that his boss had a lot of money and I start to plan on how to rob him and contacted one Taiye the driver to provide details about Chinese boss so that they will know how to carry the operation,but unfortunately the driver refused to cooperate, I decided to kidnap him ask one Michael his detailed to monitor the activities of Kumming for two weeks before we can carry out our plan last week. But that due to the nature of kidnapping business is risk, I bought an outsiders who assisted in other logistic for the operation.
He said before they struck, he was the person that contacted the group on the day they struck through phone calls and Kumming was kidnapped successfully. Amos said he knew that Kumming paid ransom, he did not knew how much he paid before he was arrested by the police.
Taiye who claimed to be Kumming’s driver for 14 years denied that he was not part of the kidnapping gang. I know when Amos and some workers had planned to rob my boss since 2015 and asked me to provide them information both Kumming especially anything he is going to bank.
I did do so and but I suppose to inform Mr Kumming or the officer in the company. He described his boss as a good man .
While parading the suspects, the Lagos Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO, S.P Dolapo Badmos said the suspects was arrested after the police operatives moved into action immediately the report got to the state command.
She said the suspects were seven in number and the police have so far arrested. Four and three other suspects are still at large.
Dolapo said the police have intensified efforts to arrest the other suspects.
She warned criminals to leave Lagos State as there is no hiding place for criminals and criminality in the State.
