TUC Honours Gov. Amosun
For the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, it is the season of honours.
About 24 hours after he was inducted as a Fellow of the prestigious Institute of Directors Nigeria, the Ogun State Governor was once again back on the honours roll receiving an award, this time, from the Trade Union Congress, TUC.
In recognition of his pedigree as a labour-friendly governor, one of the few that still manages to pay salaries as and when due, Governor Amosun was honoured with an Excellence Award in Good Service in Leadership by the umbrella labour union on Friday.
Speaking shortly after receiving the award, Governor Amosun described it as yet another affirmation of the giant strides his administration has taken in Ogun State.
For the governor, awards of that nature are not only a recognition of successes previously recorded, they are also a challenge to do more.
“Like I always say, awards of this nature represent a challenge to do better than our best,” Governor Amosun said.
He also seized the opportunity to reiterate the fact that these are indeed trying times for the nation’s economy requiring that workers double their efforts and dedication to duty.
Other awardees at the TUC Gala and Excellence Awards Night held at the Sheraton Hotel, Abuja include Senator Oluremi Tinubu; Alhaji Dr. Umaru Abdul Mutallab, Chairman Jaiz Bank and Comrade Ayuba Wabba, President, Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, among others.
