CONCLUSION
Complaint Response Unit (CRU) embarked on special monitoring patrols of activities of
Safer Highway Patrol teams on the nation’s highway as well as visitation of selected Police
Stations in the South-West, South-South and North-Central Regions.
CRU also facilitated the visitation of Amnesty International Nigeria to Special Anti-Robbery
Squad (SARS) detention facilities in Anambra, FCT-Abuja and Enugu Police Commands in the
month of June, 2016.
There was a sustained enlightenment regarding CRU activities across the electronic and
print media so as to raise CRU awareness among Nigerians during period under review with
emphasis on the Bail is Free (#BailisFree) campaign. Particularly, enlightenment campaign in
collaboration with stakeholder was carried out in South-East States via Townhall meetings in
Enugu, Awka and Abakaliki as well as interaction on local Radio Stations.
Generally, overall complaint trend has shown a national decline in total number of
complaints received from across the federation in Q2 – 2016 (906) compared to the Q1 –
2016 (1,054). CRU believes this decline is due to increasing compliance by police officers to
best professional practices in the conduct of their duties.
The Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Ibrahim K. Idris NPM, mni during the period under
review via a circular directed all Police Commands/Formations nationwide to ensure
appropriate and timely actions be taken regarding all issues brought to their notice by the
Complaint Response Unit (CRU).
Signed
Ag. ACP ABAYOMI SHOGUNLE
ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER OF POLICE,
COMPLAINT RESPONSE UNIT (CRU),
FORCE HEADQUARTERS,
