“Why We Renamed The Defunct YYC As YYSA” – Olalekan Hammed
The Yoruba Youth Organization, Yoruba Youth Socio-cultural Association (YYSA) has affirmed that the secret behind sudden emergence of YYSA is born out of the need to rally round all Yoruba youths both at home and in diaspora.
The National Leader of the group Habib Olalekan Hameed in a recent media statement said that the pan Yoruba group had been previously known as Yoruba Youth Congress (YYC). Olalekan noted that the defunct YYC had been in existence for years representing the entire Yoruba youths. He added that all the efforts made by the executives members of the group and other stakeholders in Yoruba land to register the defunct YYC proved abortive. It got to a stage when some individuals started claiming to be the President as well as the executive members of YYC due to the fact that the organization was not a registered.
Early this year however, after the emergence of the President Buhari led administration the group got the favour of the registration body and by the association was registered but not with the former name (YYC).
The Nigerian government registered Yoruba Youth Socio-cultural Association (YYSA) as the new name and the umbrella body for the entire Yoruba youths across the globe.
Now,the newly registered group is trying to put in place some laudable programmes to ensure the reorientation of the Yoruba youths so as to imbibe in them the well known traits of Omoluabi so as to be useful for themselves and the world at large.
