In what can be described as brazen display of impunity and misuse of power, the Obi of Idumu-Ogo, His Royal Majesty, Obi Samuel Odeigwai Otiegede and his brother Diji Chike, have been accused of attempting to forcefully take
over the land and property of Chief Odekpe Curtis, the Iyase of Onicha-Uku in Delta state.
The landed property which Odekpe inherited from his mother, late Omu Okpuzor Ashiedu was vandalized and valuable items carted away by hoodlum led by the Obi and his assailants.
Recalling his ordeal Chief Odekpe said precisely “ onWednesday, the 8th of February 2017, the Obi of
Idumu-Ogo, His Royal Majesty, Obi Samuel Odeigwai Otiegede in company of his brother Diji Chike and thugs invaded my premises armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons, pulled down the fence and gain entrance in to the property.
They vandalized the building, destroyed the roof and made way in to my late mothers’ room where they cart away her
box of gold and fifty pieces of traditional beads which I inherited from her.
As it was not enough, they drove away my tenant Mrs. Edith Owazuruonye Okoh, who is a traditional medicine practioner and her patient Mr. Isaac Nwabash and threw her properties out of the house. The Obi and his thugs attacked them with cutlasses and they sustained severe injuries and they are
currently receiving treatment at Central Hospital Agbor in Delta state.
Chike and the Obi also promised to eliminate my tenant if
they try to move to the said propert.
Investigation by our reporter revealed that the land in
dispute was bought by late Omu Okpuzor Ashiedu from late
Paul Otiegede in 1970 with the sum of (20,000.00) the said
father to the present Obi of Odumu-Ogo land
The victim further assert that the Obi promised to eliminate
anyone who step his feet on the said property.
While chief Odekpe stated that he had to renovate the said
property to be more habitable after the demise of his
mother.
Adding that as a peace loving man and a prime minister of
his people he has explore all avenues to resolve the matter
with the Obi but to no avail.
It is also worthy to note that the said Ashiedu mother hails
from Idumu-Ogo a neighboring town bounded with Onicha-Uku in
Delta.
Before this reports all efforts to reach the Obi of
Idumu-Ogo proved abortive as he blatantly refused to allow press men into his palace.
