KOGI NUJ ELECTIONS: Adeniyi Bada Unfolds His Manifesto
Kogi State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalist, has come of age. It’s contributions to both journalism and state development over the years has helped to attract positive responses and good will among the public and recognition by government at all levels in the state. It is a commendable effort which is attributable to the professional integrity, intellectual acumen and sound administrative discretion exhibited by its successive past executive council. However, in view of the need to keep pace with the speedy transition witnessed in our technology inspired life with its attendant consequences on the form and method of media practice and build on the existing achievements, there is need for a kind of leadership intelligence that can leverage the advantages out there for journalism practise to attune to the demands of the journalist, experienced unionist with required educational qualification, mental alertness coupled with proven administrative competence, I, Otunba Adenitis Bada have what it takes to offer this specialised leadership with due cognisance of the intervention role of our competent colleagues and therefore, wish to vie for the Chairmanship of Kogi State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) and put it at the service of this noble body.

My Programme of Action
If given the mandate, I shall, by the special grace of God, lead my executive to achieve the following for our great union.
Given my commitment to our professional union,my immediate priority is to ensure that journalist in Kogi State operate under conducive environment relative to existing best practices the world over.
I intend to build integrity for members of the union by ensuring strict adherence to ethical standards.
My task shall also involved the following.
Organising regular workshops, seminars with a view to training, and retraining of our members on the jobs.
Facilitating local and international opportunities to enhance their practice
Organising programmes on regular basis that will promote the image of the Union, generate news items for members as well as enhance their wellbeing and welfare.
Establishing a functional library at the press centre to strengthen Journalist’s intellectual base and as well serve the needs of the general public.
Taking advantage of the location of the NUJ Press Centre on a bustling commercial Street in the state capital to build a shopping complex within my first year in office to generate revenue for the union.
Collaborating with relevant stakeholders and institutions in the society to promote good governance in polity.
Integrating journalist in the state council of NUJ into government farm programme through a farm project to tagged, NUJ Fun Farming.
Establishing an NUJ media/PR Consultancy firm to further generate revenue for the union.
Strengthening the Union’s social responsibility through responsive gestures to the less privileged and especially family members of our deceased colleagues.
Enhancing financial wellbeing of the members, through the establishment of NUJ Cooperative and Thrift Society for our members.
Organising routine free medical check- up / treatment for members as well as introducing sporting activities for our members to keep fit.
I have been properly groomed in leadership to take NUJ Kogi State Council to the next level.
