By Tricia Chinyere, LAGOS/ A 36-year-old Suya meat seller in Apapa, area of Lagoa state, Halidu Isah, who was one of the suspects paraded by the Lagos State Police Commissioner, Fatai Oweseni has denied being a cult member or a ritualist.

The commissioner had earlier told newsmen that Isah was arrested in connection to the attempt killing of a four- year-old girl. But the suspect says he was inside slaughter to buy meat for he will use to produce Suya in Ebuta Metta area when someone call him. ” the caller said I should come out that my brother who is a butcher in  the slaughter home have started misbehaving.
“My brother is mentally sick and since he came down to Lagos he has no access to his treatment. After receiving the distress call I step out to meet him outside and I was arrested by the police  that I am one of the suspected ritualists.

Isah’s claimed is apparently in contrast to the Police boss who said that a “Good Samaritan raised alarm when he saw a man with 4-years old girl around Denton police axis and that the man can not give account of how he came about the child.

Immediately some officers attached to Denton Police Station rushed to the scene and met the man who was about to slaughter the girl with a knife.”

He added that “The suspect slightly injured the Good Samaritan while trying to recover the knife from him but he was eventually arrested and the girl had been handed over to her mother who had lost sight of her at White Sand Market, Ebute-Metta
