“Nigerian youths have been manipulated and relegated to the background and I, Olayode Oluseun is saying enough is enough as we cannot continue to allow our analog daddies to mortgage the unborn generation the way they mortgage our generation; it is on this note that I’m aspiring to be the next Nigerian President and I urge digitally minded Nigerian youths to join me in this crusade” This is the position of the Ejigbo, Osun State born politician and ACTION ALLIANCE (A.A) Presidential hopeful, OLAYODE OLUSEUN, who explains that Nigeria greatest problem is lack of love and sincerity and advise incumbent President Mohammadu Buhari on what to do in 2019 presidential elections in an interview with SECURITY MONITOR’s Managing Editor, Wale Abideen and Photo Editor, Shola Akinyele in Lagos recently.

Why do you think Action Alliance,A.A is an ideal party to launch your political ambition?

I must tell you sincerely that Nigerian youth are tired of retrogressive development. We are tired of unproductive analog style of governance we operate in Nigeria and whichever party, a Nigerian youth is aspiring must be applauded by the youths in entirety because we constitute the large chunk of the electorates. Action Alliance, A.A, will have an edge in 2019 because the party has a fantastic manifesto and the best of youth’s development policies. I believe A.A is the only alternative to the 16 years of PDP misrule and APC unproductive government. And I’m going to lead for good. I will take Nigeria out of bondage. I promise…

As a young chap do you envisage a situation where the power of incumbency in case President Buhari seeks another term or situation where ‘old but mighty’ politicians will manipulate the election against you?

Sincerely speaking, if President Muhammadu Buhari loves Nigeria and Nigerians, he should project the youths to succeed him. He’s tired. We love him and he has tried his best even though his best is not the best for Nigeria and Nigerians. Let him go and rest. Buhari and his likes cannot give anything to Nigeria and Nigerians; they have gotten old, weak and feeble. I join countless of voiceless Nigerians to bid Buhari goodbye to Aso Rock. He needs to retire well in his home.

This is the first time the digitally minded Nigerians; Brilliant young Nigerians are telling the old and analog minded politicians to live the political scene. We cannot continue to live like barbarians. We are human beings with talents. If we don’t get it right in 2019, I doubt if we can get it anymore. I’m passionately appealing to all levels of Nigerian youths, from age 18, to please wake up and challenge our daddies who have over the years deprived us of our natural rights and plunge our country into abject poverty. Nigeria can be greater than it present level.

And talking about Mr. President’s right to contest. He has the right but I’m sure Nigerian youths who have the numerical strength in elections will show him way out of power. The power of incumbency has been defeated in this country before and it can still be defeated again and again. The reality in Nigeria now is highly unfavorable to the large chunk of our population. We were deliberately kept in this condition so that we don’t aspire for power. But we have woken up and things may not be the same again. Wealth supposed to come from downward and not from the old. In Nigeria there is a situation where we have some few elders revolving around our wealth whereas this wealth actually belongs to the youths.

How sure are you that the youths will key into your crusade or ready to challenge those you refer to as “daddies” in goverment?

The youths have come of age. We have known the truths and ready to hold the bull by the horn. Over the years, Nigerian youths have been depressed and neglected. We have been manipulated and relegated to the background and I, Olayode Oluseun is saying enough is enough as we cannot continue to allow our analog daddies to mortgage the unborn generation the way they mortgage our generation. They have already wasted our generation. We are only hopeful that our swift efforts at this critical stag will salvage the situation; it is on this note that I’m aspiring to be the next Nigerian President and I urge digitally minded Nigerian youths to join me in this crusade.

We are tired of people who are thinking as if we are in 1960. This is 21 century. Our reasoning must be digital. We must depart from the traditional means of doing things. So, I employ my fellow youths, let rise up once and for all against those who are frustrating our socio-economic and political life. Enough is enough. Let move ahead.

What is your view about the state of the nation in Nigeria at the moment?

When you have people that don’t care about their countrymen, then we have these kinds of frustration. Also, for a President like Buhari to have mistakenly brought in names of dead Nigerians among his appointee tells us that our present crops of leaders are just there signing out money but don’t care how the money is spent. I have not seen where Nigerian president tour round Nigeria and feel the hardship experiencing by Nigerians. He can roam around other countries of the world but don’t have the time to mingle with Nigerians. A president who don’t get firsthand information about the reality of the people he govern but rely on his advisers cannot always get things right. I was told that dollars have up to 10 or 15 different exchange rates whereas we are killing ourselves with 360 naira in Nigeria, crippling many economies over dollar.

We need more serious minded leaders in Nigeria and I believe with the youths coming on board things will get better.

What is your assessment of the APC led administration in the country?

I rate APC 50% because they made us understand that too many rots are in the system when they took over power. Yet, the attitude of Mr. President shows a lots need to be done. Some top government officials still behave like breeds of former government. The attitude we accuse PDP of are still being exhibited by the present crop of leaders in the country. Government is not just about making money but making the lives of your countrymen much better than you met it. Now, or economy is worse than the way they met it. Many of us were part of the crusade that removed the former government. And of course that was a corrupt government that almost empties our treasury. Just recently EFCC recovered 650 Million from former FCT Minister, Jumoke Akinjide. I was so shock this kind of money were with an individual in a country where 85 percent of its population is wallowing in abject poverty. No, not again. We must move this country forward. We are tired. Our common wealth is for all of us and not few of us.

How significance will be your leadership style if eventually Nigerians decided to elect you as president?

I have said it again and again that what we lack is a holistic approach. Nigeria has best of laws. Our problem is neither law nor human resources but lack of holistic power to harness our resources. A guy told me of how government ministries divert projects money into private pockets. He said if you get a contract of ten million naira in ministry before you left the ministry 8 million would have disappear as officials will not sign your documents without collecting bribe. Where are we going? We can’t continue like this. If I get the mandate of Nigerians I will put a permanent measure in place to stop corruption from the source. I will instill positive thinking prowess into Nigerians that no one will think of stashing our collective wealth away to abroad. The money laundered abroad doesn’t always return as many corrupt politicians die and their family could not trace those monies. We are all living testimonies to the Abacha loot and the recovery saga. I say again that my program will be Nigeria first and everything I’m going to do will be accepted by all Nigerians as budgets will be collectively monitored and executed. I will stop money laundering permanently.

What do you consider as the greatest problem facing this country?

Nigeria’s greatest problem is lack of love and sincerity. Whenever there is no love there will be no development. Anybody that loves this country will not like to steal from our collective pause and take abroad to develop foreign land. A sincere Nigerian will not get a contract and carried out an inferior project for Nigerians. Anybody that loves this country will not face one direction and be justifying the killings of innocent people by a tribe…..That kind of person does not love this country and he can never be sincere to govern this country.
