Early this year, while the 2018 show was ongoing, some disgruntled former staff of PAYPORTE took to internet, created Ex Payporte Staff instagram and twitter accounts announcing to the world that Eyo Basey Francis owes his staff months of salaries arrears and other entitlements. They stated how owner of PAYPORTE sleeps with young girls who are staff of his company and lavishes money on them at the detriment of other staff’s salary. A case of a 19 year old girl was narrated on the intagram where Eyo Basey Francis was said to have bought her MacBook and iPhone X. The Ex PAYPORTE Staff also displayed a G Wagon Car allegedly bought for another Unilag under graduate girl who was décor as PAYPORTE Students’ Ambassador.
Investigators uncovered that PARPORTE deducts contributing pension funds from its staff but there are no evidence that such account exist with any legal pension administrator as all ex staff who spoke with SECURITY MONITOR stated they have never received alert or sign up for any pension account. It was discovered that no staff of the company has access to his or her pension account as they claimed they have never gotten any Pension Account Numbers.
Security Monitor’s findings depict that contrary to the Nigerian Labour law on how to lay off staff and the terms in the PAYPORTE staff’s appointment letter, the company sacks employers without giving them 30 days’ notice or one month salary in lieu of the notification. PAYPORTE engages many staff and refuses to pay them but sack them when they raised commotion only to recruit another set of people playing on the prevalent unavailability of jobs in Nigeria. Ex staff in PARPORTE accuses his C.E.O, Eyo Basey Francis of invading government tax as they hint of such criminal acts in the company.
“Eyo Basey Francis is a well-known flamboyant and reckless spender. Despite huge financial burden and indebtedness, he travels around the globe for holidays, spending huge monies on young girls like a prodigal but finds it difficult to pay staff salaries. This is a man who owes staff salaries and entitlements but yet sponsor a T.V show to the amazing eyes of the world”, one of his ex-staff told Security Monitor in Lagos. The young man in his late twenties spoke with anger how he was sacked for complaining over his unpaid salary and how he could not even get the outstanding salary areas owing him after his immediate sack from the company. “When you are sacked or resign from PAYPORTE, nothing for you again. No matter how much is your un-paid salary you can’t get it again. The management of PAYPORTE erases sacked staff from pay roll and and refused to pay any outstanding salaries and other entitlements. Eyo Basey Francis is found of sending threat messages to ex staff who he taught could expose his shady deals”.
While some former staff members of PAYPORTE said they could not challenge the company to pay their outstanding salary because they are being scared of the C.E.O’s “devilish” act, others such Vacant Board have sought to challenge him in court. A Twitter handle with the sole aim of exposing the secrets of the organization was also created.
A Twitter handle @ex_payporte_sff has been releasing evidence against the owner, Eyo Bassey Francis and his company, seeking justice for the staff who are bearing the brunt of his anti labour practice.
Over 5 ex PAYPORTE staff who spoke with investigative journalists deduced that they can not understand how Eyo Basey gets the money he uses to sponsor programs with millions of naira. They argued that the company could not pay them salary as a result of the lavish spending of the CEO, Eyo Bassey, and also the money PAYPORTE spends in funding the Big Brother Naija reality show. Apart from sponsoring reality TV show Big Brother Naija, worth over 350,000,000 naira, PAYPORTEalso sponsor AY Live, Nigeria Football Federation.
