Preventing and fighting corruption, economic and financial crimes is the responsibility of every Nigerian especially in their little spare of space. To this end, the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) seeks to partner the National Orientation Agency (NOA) Lagos Directorate in the area of enlightenment and sensitization of the people for a greater understanding of the workings of the commission and what is expected of them.
Addressing Management and staff of NOA during an interactive session at the Lagos Zonal Office of EFCC in Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos on Wednesday 3rd April, 2019, the Chairman, EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, noted that the Commission is seeking to build a society where almost everyone is enlightened and informed about acts of corruption, economic and financial crimes with the aim of doing something, by reporting to the appropriate agencies. He emphasized that NOA as an agency of government saddled with the responsibility of sensitization and mobilization of the citizens towards favourable government activites, policies and programmes at the grassroots cannot be over looked, hence, the hand of partnership for a robust enlightenment programme.
Responding, the Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA) Lagos Directorate, Mr. Waheed Ishola, thanked the Chairman for the encomium and honour to the Agency. He noted that the timing was apt even though the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has being very active in the area of sensitization and mobilization of the people on the issue of corruption and related offences. He further promised to adequately use the existing structure of the Agency at the Local Government level to carry out awareness/sensitization campaign in order to make sure that the good people of Lagos state are properly educated in the scheme of things.
Highpoint of the visit was the setting up of a 10-man programme implementation committee from both agencies of government.
