CDHR Wants Buhari To Sack All Service Chiefs Over Growing Insecurity In Nigeria
By Wale Abydeen//LAGOS//In view of the growing insecurity in Nigeria and banditry killings in some sections of the country, a call has gone to President Muhamadu Buhari to relieve current servcie chiefs as they have shown they are incapable of discharging their duties, which is responsible for unnecessary killings and kidnapping across the length and breadth of the country.
This call was made on Monday in Lagos by the National President of the Committee for Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) Comrade Gbenga Soloki in a press statement he signed and made available to journalists ,stressing that the rate of killing and kidnapping across the state is frightening and may lead to unrest of monumental proportion if not quickly arrested.
CDHR chronicled the killing across the country stressing that the statement of the chief of Army staff and others on the growing unwarranted killings in the northern part of the country to the extent that Boko Haram is defeated in the region smacks of incapability.
According to CDHR” the growing insecurity across the country calls for serious concern on the part of everyone. From the submission of the service chiefs especially the chief of Army staff,it’s crystal clear that they have no solution to the issues of banditry and kidnapping across the country. On so many occasions, they have announced to the whole world of the defeat of Boko Haram in the north, but people are being killed almost on daily basis by the dreaded Boko Haram sect. In the southern part of the country,it’s kidnapping by criminal gangs ,who collect ransome from relatives of their victims or unwarranted killing ,yet the inspector General and his team have continuously being investigating, yet no planned action to arrest the ugly situation ,yet they draw salaries and allowances for their incapability..”
The group also queried the rationale behind the retention of none performing service chiefs in the face of growing insecurity and threat to our cohesion as a people.
Accordingly,” we want to advise President Muhamadu Buhari to relieve all service chiefs of their positions since they have failed to stem the tide of insecurity across the country and appoint credible and professionals as service chiefs instead of retaining those who have no solution to the crises as hand.
