Ekiti Youths Condemn Attacks on SWAGA; Adetifa and Osho were suspended by the Caretaker Committee of the Aiyede Ward 9 over alleged link with the South West Agenda for 2023, (SWAGA)’

The All Progressive Youth Alliance (APYA), has condemned the internal witch-hunt against a section of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ekiti State, as it called on the party’s top hierarchy to swiftly wade in to save what could lead to a colossal electoral failure in coming elections.

The group called on Governor Kayode Fayemi to move in to save the festering situation and ensure that all members of the party are swiftly brought on same page as lee-way to success in pending electoral contests in Ekiti State.

APYA, reacting to the recent suspension of two APC leaders, Chief Kayode Adetifa and Jide Osho from membership of the Aiyede North Ward 9 of the Ekiti State Chapter of the APC, likened the action with a bird burning its nest ahead of winter and called for the readmission of the suspended duo with due apologies.

Chief Adetifa and Osho were suspended by the Caretaker Committee of the Aiyede Ward 9 over alleged link with the South West Agenda for 2023, (SWAGA), a group of APC loyalists, sympathetic to the choice of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to becoming the presidential flagbearer of APC come 2023.

Adetifa was Chairman of the Alliance for Democracy in Oye Local Government while Osho was immediate past Ward Chairman at the Aiyede North Ward 9.

Reacting in Ekiti State capital, Ado, APYA President, Adelana Adeyanju, described the suspension of the duo as myopic and a move that can only lead to self-destruct of a party at the threshold of political contests.

According to him; “it is a myopic manifestation of a few, blinded by greed, to the sorry consequences of a selfish action taken too far.”

Adeyanju said a situation where members of an already polarized Ekiti State APC Chapter would be exposed to further decimation is too much electoral burden to bear at this nick of time.

According to him, “the situation in Ekiti State APC today calls for a lot of fence mending among aggrieved members, particularly the leaders than further engage in acts that would further decimate us. Any leader with good intention for this party should know that this is the time to roll up our sleeves for the great electoral challenges ahead of us and not the other way round.

“Witch-hunting already battered APC members at this time is grossly frustrating, and that is why the ongoing moves by some elements within us to fracture the party and expose it to unwarranted implosion for selfish interests must be condemned.

“We are appalled that even as some party faithful are making sacrifices to garner more support outside party bounds and woo more supporters for us through the branding of our National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, showcasing his outstanding leadership qualities, a section of us is bent on plundering the hard-earned political fortunes we have already achieved and decimate the party on the altar of self-interests.

“Adetifa and Osho are staunch members of our party and SWAGA, is a political pressure group, agitating for the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as touch-bearer for the APC in the 2023 presidential election; therefore, nothing warrants their suspension, if indeed they are in that group to exercise their innate rights to associate.

“Asiwaju Tinubu is the Leader of APC in the country and as such, the aspiration of some of our members for him to becoming the next president can’t be a taboo.

“It is on these notes that we warn those administering this lethal therapy to our party to stop the evil move or face the harsh consequences of an action too grave to condone by the youth of our party in Ekiti State,” Adeyanju said.
