By Wale Abydeen/LAGOS/  With less than 48 hours to the  All Progressive Congress, APC National Convention, there are speculations that President Mohammedu Buhari has settled for  the 74 years old Abdullahi Adamu.

This is coming on the premise that  the APC governors have thrown their weight behind the  former governor of Nasarawa State and PDP founding member.

Aside from being a PDP founding member, Adamu is said to be having corruption case pending in court. This according to some key APC chieftains is a  stain on the part of a government dubbed as anti corruption regime.

“I can not imagine how the president and some of our governors preferred Adamu. He was not a core progressive  politician and he still have series of corruption allegations he has to clear in the court”. A prominent APC chieftain told SECURITY MONITOR in Lagos.

In  2010, Adamu was arrested by the EFCC for allegedly misappropriating N15 billion alongside 18 others.

He was subsequently arraigned on a 149-count charge of fraud to the tune of N15 billion alongside his co-accused. The case is yet to be concluded.

In February 2018, the EFCC arraigned Nuraini, Adamu’s son , and one Felix Onyeabo Ojiako before Justice Farouq Lawal of the Kano State High Court on a four-count charge of conspiracy, forgery and obtaining money by false pretence.

Adamu is said to be the preferred candidate of president Buhari and the decision seems to be in contrary to the expectation of many party chieftains.
