Breaking News: CBN Extends Deadline for Old Naira Notes
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has finally extended the deadline for the swap of old naira notes.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, Godwin Emefiele, the CBN governor, said the new deadline is now February 10, 2023.
However, Nigerians will still be able to deposit their old notes directly with the CBN until February 17, 2023.
The deadline for swapping the old notes for new ones was initially January 31. Following series of complains by many Nigerians over inability to swap the old notes for the new designs, the apex bank shift its stance by extending the deadline.
