Senate Chief Whip Appointment: Leadership Institute Congratulates Senator Muhammad Ali Ndume

The Institute for Governance and Leadership Studies in Africa, IGLSA has congratulated Senator Ali Ndume on his
appointment as Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate.

In a Press statement released in Abuja yesterday by the Institute’s Director General, Dr Lanre Adebayo, Senator Ndume was described as a great Nigerian Leader and unifier who has played stabilizing roles at different times in his political career.
The Institute stated that Senator Ndume has had a meritorious rise and effective representation in his role as a Legislator starting from his election as a member of the House of Representatives in 2011, adding that his elevation to the Senate in April 2011 by the people of Borno South Senatorial District underscored his effectiveness as a law maker and strong bond between him and the People.

Indeed Senator Ndume was
made Leader of the 9th Senate underscoring the confidence of his Colleagues in his capacity and leadership.
A widely read Leader, the Institute contended that the Contributions of Senator Ndume to the work of the
National Assembly has always been of the best standard.
IGLSA urges Senator Ndume to use his new position to promote good governance, transparency and accountability as well as inclusive participation of the people. Senator Ndume was also urged to defend the poor, the oppressed and reflect the interest of the grassroots in the Country’s annual appropriation law in order to further democratize the budget process.
The Institute noted that the North Eastern part of the Country has not received enough attention especially
in the efforts to harness its enormous resource endowment, adding that Senator Ndume should use his new
office to attract both Federal and private sector investments to the Region. The Organisation further stated
that these will address the issues of unemployment among the youth and women, and ultimately contribute
to peace building and accelerate development.
