The most virile opposition party in Anambra state, African Democratic Congress (ADC) has read with dismay and disappointment the wanton threats by the Anambra State Government under Prof Chukwuma Soludo to arbitrarily suspend Traditional Rulers who conferred Chieftaincy Titles to individuals of their choice without getting clearance, permission or authorization from the State Government. The threat which was issued by Hon Tonycollins Nwabunwanne – the Honorable Commissioner of Local Government, Community and Chieftaincy Affairs on behalf of the Anambra State Government is tyrannical sadism and a sign of plugging the State into anarchy. This was contained in a statement made available to SECURITY MONITOR by Chilos Godsent, National Vice Chairman South East of the ADC.

According to the party, “Prof Soludo should know that the Traditional Institutions are the custodian of the culture and traditions of their respective communities,. These communities has values and norms recognized and practiced by them. Moreso, Traditional Institutions are not partisan, and communities has the Right to Self-determination and the Right to choose who to confere Chieftaincy title to, in line with the tradition and culture of the Community.”

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) believes that Prof Chukwuma Soludo is already scared of the likely outcome of the forthcoming off-cycle Governorship Election in the State in 2025.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is determined to protect the Rights of the people of Anambra State Come Rain Come Sun. The Government of Prof Chukwuma Soludo should not resort to reckless intimidation and Harassment of the Anambra electorates in the name of second term Project of the regime that has brought untold hardship and sabotage to the people of Anambra State.
