All Is Set For MACA Good Governance Award, Says Orubibi

By Tersoo Adagher)ABUJA// The Markolima Consultancy Academy (MACA) organizers of the Nigerian Good Governance Awards have disclosed that it has concluded plans to host the maiden edition of the Nigerian Good Governance Award.
Speaking at a world press conference on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, the Programme Manager of the Nigerian Good Governance Award 2023/2024, Chief Mrs. Mimi Adzape-Orubibi said independent assessment of would-be awardees have been concluded with awardees set to be unveiled to Nigerians in few days.
According to her, public office holders targeted to be awarded in this maiden edition will include Seven (7) Best Performing Governors, Nine (9) Ministers, Twelve (12) Senators, Twenty-One (21) House of Representative Members and Five (5) Heads of MDAs.
She further disclosed that the Best Performing Governor’s Award category will look at the impact of government policies on security, education, healthcare and social welfare, infrastructure development, youth and women empowerment amongst others.
While that of Ministers will x-ray the implementation of government programmes, policies, and initiatives by the ministers in their respective ministries, the category for National Assembly members will focus on impacts on their constituencies in the area of constituency projects, number of bills and motions on the floor and empowerment schemes by the legislatures.
Chief Orubibi also commended Mr. President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing a roadmap for a new Nigeria expressed confidence in the economic reforms of the current administration saying it will have a positive impact on Nigeria in a long run.
The objectives of the MACA Awards are to promote an accountable and transparent governance system; train and facilitate citizens’ participation in the decision-making process; facilitate an improved and effectively free, fair, and transparent electoral process; improve the organizational structure and capacity of the Good Governance Awareness Initiative (GGAI); as well as encourage and reward public office holders who have used their positions and offices to deliver democracy dividends and have impacted positively on the society.
