POLICE OFFICER AND HUNTERS ACCUSED OF SHOOTING COMMUNITY CITIZEN IN LAND DISPUTE

A shocking incident has unfolded in Matanmi Palace Community, Osun State, Nigeria, where a police officer Adesoji Aremu aka SOJ and a group of hunters have been implicated in a shooting incident linked to a longstanding land dispute.

Victim Hospitalized…

On January 5th, 2023, Inspector Adesoji Aremu alias SOJ and the hunters Muse Akinyemi, Morufu Adeleke alias elewedu, lukman Yahya, Taofeek Baolrinwa, scorpion and Ramoni Omituntun allegedly hired by a rival landowner stormed the community, firing shots that injured Mr. Sikiru Rasheed, a local herbal seller.

Sikiru, who sustained severe gun shots injuries in his two legs is currently receiving medical attention at a nearby hospital till date without no assistance.

Community Outrage…

According to preliminary investigations the community is outraged, accusing Inspector Adesoji Aremu and and the hunters of colluding with the rival landowner to intimidate, harass them and also threatsof life.

This incident escalates some months-long land dispute that has seen tensions simmering.

Calls for Justice…

Residents are demanding swift justice, urging the immediate arrest and prosecution of Inspector Adesoji Aremu and the hunters involved.

An NGO activist of Anti-drug Impact Foundation and the Human right activist of the Chief of Staff of the Federation hereby calling the Inspector General of Police Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, the FPRO Adejobi Olumuyiwa, Osun State PPRO, Mrs Opalola Yemisi to investigate the incident and take appropriate action.
