By Olayiwola Ibrahim // In a statement released on Wednesday by the agency’s Head of Public Affairs Unit, Nosa Okunbor, it was revealed that the agency received distress calls and promptly activated its Lion Squad from the Agbowa Base.

Upon arrival at the market at approximately 4:20 AM on Wednesday, it was discovered that one of the shops was engulfed in flames.

Following a thorough investigation, the agency determined that the fire originated from a power surge.

The prompt intervention and coordinated efforts of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service ensured that the fire was contained and quickly subdued, as stated in part of the release.

LASEMA reported that the fire consumed the shop, resulting in partial loss of goods and properties.

Fortunately, no lives were lost, and no injuries were sustained during the incident.

As of the time of filing this report, the fire had been completely extinguished and dampened.

The agency added that emergency responders had secured the entire area and educated occupants on the proper use of electric appliances.
