By Mohammed Fitr/ABUJA// The All Progressive Congress (APC) has said Nigerians should blame themselves for the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu* .
According to the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) passed into law by the National Assembly canceled payment of subsidy, and Nigerians failed to speak out against it.
Morka argued that President Tinubu only implemented what the law stipulated, and that the subsidy regime had become unsustainable.
He noted that NNPC did not completely remove fuel subsidy to avoid a complete shutdown of the economy, but emphasized that Nigerians have become too dependent on fuel subsidy, contrary to international practice.
Morka urged Nigerians to take responsibility for their actions and hold their representatives in the National Assembly accountable for the laws they pass.
