By Olayiwola Ibrahim // The Kogi State House of Assembly has called for the immediate removal of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, citing unprofessional handling of the case against former Governor Yahaya Bello.

The lawmakers condemned the EFCC’s attack on the Kogi State Government Lodge, labeling it an assassination attempt on Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and former Governor Yahaya Bello.

They alleged that the EFCC’s actions were not only unprovoked but also aimed at humiliating and possibly killing the present and former governors.

The lawmakers emphasized that the Audited Financial Reports of the State had always been published, and no money was missing to warrant the EFCC’s witch hunting of the former Governor.

The EFCC has been investigating Yahaya Bello for alleged N84 billion money laundering offenses, alongside his nephew Ali Bello, Dauda Sulaiman, and Abdulsalam Hudu.

However, the Kogi Assembly insists that the EFCC’s conduct shows a different agenda, one that must be condemned by all well meaning Nigerians.

The Kogi Assembly views the EFCC’s actions as an attempt on the lives of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and former Governor Yahaya Bello.

Lawmakers condemn the EFCC’s unprovoked attack on the Kogi State Government Lodge, noted that such act was an unprofessional attack.

Speaking further on the audited financial reports which shows that no missing money to warrant the EFCC’s investigation, the Assembly believes the EFCC has an agenda different from fighting corruption.

The lawmakers therefore demand the President remove EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede due to gross incompetence.

The Kogi State House of Assembly also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his economic policies aimed at building a strong economy.
