Lilongwe Police have apprehended three suspects in connection with the theft of 106 bags of soybeans valued at K5.3 million from a COMSIP warehouse at Njewa on October 7, 2024.

The suspects, Noel Banda, 25, Tsauso Mandala, 40, and Madalitso Kamanga, 35, were arrested at Mpingu and Mgona on Monday.

According to Lilongwe Public Relations Officer, Hastings Chigalu, the suspects used a 3-tonner motor vehicle with registration number BN 7728 to invade the COMSIP warehouse.

They tied up the security guards before making off with the soybeans. However, Kanengo Police intercepted the lorry and recovered the stolen soybeans, but the suspects managed to escape.

“Following a thorough investigation and manhunt, Lilongwe Police detectives arrested the trio at Mpingu Trading Centre and Mgona location in the district,” said Chigalu.

He said the police are still searching for three more suspects who are still at large.

The suspects will soon appear in court to answer robbery charges.

Noel Banda hails from M’bwatalika Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) M’bwatalika, Lilongwe, while Tsauso Mandala and Madalitso Kamanga come from Chikadya and Payendanyama Villages, respectively, both in T/A Ganya in Ntcheu District.
