By Adirije Karen Ify// The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu rtd, mni, has assured new recruit constables of the Commission’s unwavering support, ensuring their career progression is predictable and guided by established rules and regulations.

DIG Argungu reminded the new recruits that the Office of a Constable is a dignified position that demands respect and dignity.

He emphasized the Commission’s expectation for them to conduct themselves in a manner befitting a police officer.

The PSC Chairman acknowledged the nation’s ongoing security challenges, including banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, and terrorism.

He, however, noted that the President has pledged support for manpower improvement and logistical assistance.

Argungu charged the new recruits to reciprocate this gesture by working collaboratively with other security agencies to mitigate these challenges.

DIG Argungu reminded the new recruits of the Commission’s Constitutional Mandate, as outlined in Section 153 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

The Commission is vested with powers to appoint, promote, dismiss, and exercise disciplinary control over members of the Nigeria Police Force, except the Inspector General of Police.

The PSC Chairman congratulated the new recruits on completing their rigorous training program and encouraged them to strive for excellence.

He wished them a rewarding and productive career in the Nigeria Police Force, reminding them that the sky should be their limit.

The Chairman’s message was delivered on his behalf at various Police Colleges and schools by Heads of Departments and Units in the Commission.

Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, ensured the message was conveyed to the new recruit constables.
