The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Kano Chapter, has suspended four National Assembly members for alleged anti-party activities.

Addressing journalists in Kano on Monday, the state chairman of NNPP, Alhaji Hashimu Dungurawa, announced the suspension, stating that the lawmakers had acted contrary to the party’s beliefs and values.

The suspended lawmakers represent:

Kano South Senatorial District – Kawu Sumaila
Rano/Kibiya Federal Constituency – Ali Gini
Dala Federal Constituency – Sani Rogo
Rogo/Karaye Federal Constituency – Kabiru Rurum
Reasons for Suspension
According to Dungurawa, the suspended members were given complementary tickets during the elections but later engaged in activities detrimental to the party’s interests.

He cited a recent incident involving Kawu Sumaila, who inaugurated projects at his university in Sumaila without inviting party members, as an example of their disloyalty.

“These members were elected under the NNPP platform but have recently been acting contrary to the party’s wishes, beliefs, and values,” Dungurawa said.

Next Steps & Possibility of Reconciliation
The NNPP chairman disclosed that a committee would be set up to investigate the issue and take necessary action. However, he noted that there is still room for dialogue, and if the lawmakers reconcile with the party, they may be readmitted.

Internal Crisis Within NNPP Kano
This development comes amid reports of an internal crisis within the NNPP in Kano State, with some members allegedly feeling marginalized by the party’s leadership.

The situation has raised concerns about party unity and stability, especially as NNPP continues to navigate its role in the state’s political landscape.
