David Shikfu Parradang, a former Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), has been killed by kidnappers in Abuja.

According to counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, Parradang was abducted in the early hours of Tuesday near the Area 1 axis of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Makama, citing sources, reported that the assailants trailed him from a bank where he had withdrawn money. After seizing the cash, they eventually killed him.

“The tragic incident has raised fresh concerns over security in the Federal Capital Territory, particularly the increasing cases of kidnappings and targeted attacks,” Makama stated.

Parradang served in the NIS for over 30 years, holding key positions in Kano, Lagos, Kwara, Enugu, and Abuja. He attended several professional courses both in Nigeria and abroad.

In recognition of his service, he was awarded the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) and was a distinguished graduate of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).

Security agencies have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his abduction and killing, with efforts underway to apprehend the perpetrators.

While the Nigerian Immigration Service has yet to make an official statement, an official at the Immigration headquarters in Abuja confirmed the incident.

“The report is true, but we need to wait for Immigration authorities to make an official publication,” the official said.
