Okada Ridders Working For Kidnappers Arrested In Ondo…we are just helping them to buy foods, says suspects

By James Ajibade//AKURE// The Commissioner Of Police in Ondo state, Wilfred Afolabi has said that the Police are making all efforts to ride-off kidnappers in the state.*
Afolabi, who could not hide his displeasure towards the criminals, said the Police , with the help of other security agencies in the state, have made some significant achievements in arresting one, Abdullahi Mallam Bala , 21, one of the kidnappers terrorizing the state capital recently.
The Police boss, during his interaction with journalists on Monday in his office, giving accounts of his stewardship over the last two weeks said, Abdullahi Bala, was seeing in the bush like an expectant,which could not give a satisfactory answer on why he was there. After arrest, investigation revealed he was working hand in hand with a syndicate of one Ibrahim Dan and Alahu Umar.
According to the Police boss “Umar had earlier in the year been arrested by the police over his involvement in the kidnapping cases that have been recorded in the state, now in the police custody
“Also one Kolawole Sunday was arrested, 39, during investigation, he confessed to be an Okada rider providing food for the kidnappers, helping them to get food.
Kolawole was said to have confessed further that he acts as a spy for the kidnappers.
Upon further investigation done on Kolawole, another two suspects were said to have been arrested , one Umar Abubakar Sanda and Yusuf Almanac.
Umar Abubakar confessed that he is always the one guilding kidnapped victims into the forest
Further Investigation of the police,according to CP Afolabi, led to the arrest of one Lekan Temitope, aka Legelege, also a motorcyclist ,who offer transportation assistance to the kidnappers, which he buys foods and supplies the kidnappers for the victims.
On 14th March, 2025, the Police, with the assistance of Vigilante and hunters entered into the bush and apprehended one Rilwan Saliku 45, and Usman Iyeakwu 19, at Ipele area over the issue of kidnapping.
On Saliku, three million, five hundred thousand naira(#3.5m) was found but claimed he was a POS operator.
The Police boss therefore, assure the people of the state, that, Police in the state are ready more than ever to flush out the criminals from the state.
