MAIDEN NATIONAL POLICE DAY: ENUGU STATE COMMAND COMMENCES THE COMMEMORATION WITH FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH

By James Ajibade// As part of activities marking the maiden National Police Day, the Enugu State Command started the commemoration today, April 2, 2025, with a free medical outreach. The outreach, which continues on April 3, 2025, held at the Police Clinic, State Headquarters, Enugu, offering free medical consultations, blood pressure checks, blood sugar level tests, HIV screening, counselling, and treatment for diagnosed common illnesses.

The Command will also host a Town Hall Meeting with Stakeholders on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at the Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi Hall, Sports Club, Enugu. The interactive session, themed “The Police and the Community: Pathways to Strengthening Partnerships for Enhanced Security in Enugu State”, aims to foster collaboration between law enforcement and the public.

Additionally, the Command will conduct a community sanitation/clean-up exercise and a school outreach programme under the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV).

The Commissioner of Police, *CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc*, has commended the Inspector-General of Police, *IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM*, for initiating impactful programmes to mark the occasion. He also expressed gratitude to the law-abiding citizens of Enugu State for their unwavering support, urging them to maintain trust in the police as efforts intensify to serve them better.
