By James Ajibade// So the Chairman of Fufore Local Government in Adamawa State , Hon. Shuaibu Babas suddenly died on Wednesday,April 23, 2025.

And thereafter everybody expected that the Vice Chairperson Mrs. Peace Samson Audu, would be sworn in to succeed her late boss in line with the provision of the constitution.

A week after that has NOT been done and all eyes including accusing fingers are being pointed in every and all directions with the State Governor Umar Fintiri taking most of the flaks.

All the actors in the Fufore political furore are members of the People’s Democratic Party PDP.

There are insinuations that certain powerful forces are being the delay.

Some are even imputing religious and gender bias saying.

According to The Adamawa Advocates for Women Inclusion (AAWI) which has joined the fray ,” in this moment of transition, we must uphold the constitution and democratic values that guarantee seamless governance and equity.”

The group further said , :

“AAWI is troubled by credible reports suggesting that the delay may be influenced by gender and religious biases. If true, this is not only unconstitutional but an affront to the principles of inclusion, equality, and justice. Women in leadership must not be subjected to discrimination based on faith or gender.”

It therefore called on ,”The Adamawa State Government and relevant authorities to immediately uphold the law by swearing in Mrs. Peace Samson Audu as the new Chairperson of Fufore Local Government, ” saying,”Nigeria’s democracy must work for everyone — regardless of gender or creed. The time to act is now.”
