By Adamu Aliyu Aliyu/ABUJA// The Kwara State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is alarmed by the recent, unfounded claim credited to the Nigerian Military that “Kwara remains one of the most peaceful states”. We consider this spurious pronouncement, made without any credible data or empirical security index, as not only dishonest but also a direct insult to the people of Kwara State—especially victims of insecurity, their bereaved families, and communities currently under siege by terror and criminality.

The party in a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara said it is provocative that the Nigerian Military, an institution expected to uphold professionalism and truth, has allowed itself to be dragged into the dirty politics of deception and propaganda which are the trademarks of Abdulrazaq led administration.

How do we tell the families of kidnapped victims who were enroute to Offa , the grieving mothers and children in Kaiama whose parents were brutally murdered, the displaced farmers in Baruten, the widows in Ifelodun and Isin, the people of Koro whose king was killed in cold blood , that Kwara is “peaceful”?

This statement is a slap in the face of countless victims whose blood has stained our soil, and whose cry for justice remain unanswered. It is nothing short of psychological warfare on traumatized citizens who are being told their pain doesn’t exist, their fear is imaginary, and their losses are irrelevant in the eyes of those who ought to protect them.

Any attempt to politicize security matters is a dangerous gamble that will only embolden criminals and worsen the suffering of our people and also disrespects the memories of those whose lives were lost to the failures of governance.

Our party urges the military and sister security agencies in Kwara to resist the temptation of becoming tools in the hands of a failed leader. Restoring peace is what matters to an average kwarans and not media content creation
