Former Nigerian Ambassador and Senator, Prof. Jibril Aminu, Dies at 85

Prof. Jibril Aminu, a distinguished Nigerian diplomat, academic, and politician, has passed away at the age of 85. According to a report by DW, he died on Wednesday in Abuja after a prolonged illness.
Prof. Aminu served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States from 1999 to 2003 and later represented Adamawa Central in the Senate from 2003 to 2011.
A trained cardiologist, he earned his medical degree from the University of Ibadan in 1965 and later obtained a PhD in Medicine from the Royal Post-Graduate Medical School in London in 1972.
He is survived by two wives and nine children. His funeral is expected to take place in his hometown of Song, Adamawa State.
