Beware of Hook Up With Strangers, Police Warn As Young Lady Found Dead in Abuja Hotel

By Mohamed Fitr/ABUJA// A lady identified as Aldi Johnson has been reportedly tied and strangled inside a hotel in FCT Abuja.

A witness simply identified as Ifeanyi said the lady checked into the hotel located at the 3rd Avenue, Gwarimpa Abuja on Monday, night with a yet to be identified young man in the area.

He said the lady was later discovered lifeless, tied hands back, on Tuesday morning after the hotel cleaner went to clean the room but discovered that the door of the hotel room was locked outside.

He said the cleaner, who knocked the door severally without any response, immediately alerted one of the staff who came and forced the door open and discovered the lady’s hands tied to her back.

He said the lady’s mouth was also tied with a small cloth, adding that the hotel staff picked his phone and recorded the lady, before alerting the police.

The source said the police later arrived the hotel and evacuated her to the morgue.

Meanwhile, the FCT police command spokeswoman SP Adeh Josephine, who confirmed the incident, said preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, later identified as Aladi Offikwu Johnson, also known as Tessy, a female from Benue State, checked into a hotel located at 3rd Avenue, Gwarinpa, on 16th June, 2025, in the company of an unidentified male who was later observed to have exited the premises without her.

She said the lady was confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital for medical evaluation.

And while the investigation is ongoing, the Commissioner of Police CP Ajao Saka Adewale, urged members of the public to remain calm and allow the Police to carry out a comprehensive inquiry,” she said.

She advised young ladies to exercise caution in their interactions, especially with unfamiliar individuals, and to always share their whereabouts with trusted friends or family members for safety purposes.
