LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES CONSTRUCTION OF OVERHEAD BRIDGE IN IKOTUN, COMMISSIONED ABARANJE ROAD

By Olayiwola Ibrahim /Lagos// The Lagos State Government has announced plans to construct an overhead bridge connecting Ikotun Roundabout to Ijegun, inward Abaranje, Egbe, linking to Ejigbo and Isolo.

This announcement was made during the commissioning of the Abaranje road earlier today.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu stated that the construction of the overhead bridge is crucial in easing traffic congestion around the corridor.

He appealed to residents to be patient, assuring them that all promises would be fulfilled.

Sanwo-Olu thanked party leaders and traditional rulers, including the Onipaja of Ipaja Kingdom, Oba of Isheri, Alaso of Egbe Kingdom, Onikotun of Ikotun, Onidimu of Idimu Kingdom, the Oba of orisunmibare kingdom, Igbos Esedigbo, and Hausa leaders, for their cooperation with the state government.

In a remark by the Onikotun of Ikotun, Oba Abdurasaq Abioye drew the Governor’s attention to the three phases of the road promised earlier, stating that only one phase had been in progress.

He urged the Governor to complete the remaining two phases linking Abaranje to Akesan and Isheri Osun to ease traffic congestion and enhance infrastructure development in the state.

The Local Government Chairman of Ikotun, Lasisi Akinsanya, expressed gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu, the Deputy Governor, Mr. Hamsat Kadiri, and the Speaker, represented by Hon. Desmond Elliot, for their efforts in providing infrastructure amenities to the area.

Akinsanya said that, as we look forward to the completion of this project, I urge all resident to remain patient and supportive. We will work closely to with State government to ensure that our community receives the attention and resources its deserves.

Hon. Desmond Elliot, Chairman for Road and Infrastructure, thanked the Special Adviser, Hon. Kehinde Joseph, for her contributions to the project’s development.

He emphasized that Hon. Joseph’s involvement would help facilitate the construction of other roads mentioned to the Governor.

The Governor called on all residents of the state to come out in large numbers and vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the upcoming election of the Chairmanship and Councilorship election in few weeks time.

The Governor concluded by stating that the State Deputy Governor Doctor Hamzat Kadiri, Chairman on Road and Infrastructure, and Special Adviser on Transportation have collaborated to ensure the successful construction of the Ikotun flyover bridge, which will enhance traffic flow and vehicular movement in the area.

Meanwhile Hon Kehinde Joseph, emphasized on the significance of road infrastructure around the environs noting that it will also add to the development amenities of the State.

According to him, he said this marks a milestones to compete with other places.
