By Olayiwola Ibrahim / Lagos // In a thought-provoking lecture at the Weekly Program held every Sunday at Daaru Naim Central Mosque, Sheikh Imuran Abdul Majeed Eleha drew inspiration from the story of Prophet Yusuf (Joseph) to emphasize the importance of good governance and prioritizing citizens’ well-being.

The Islamic scholar highlighted the blessings that befell Prophet Yusuf and his family, from Suliha’s marriage to the birth of Rahmah, who later gave birth to Sulikifli, the mother of Prophet Mohammed.

Sheikh Eleha noted that Prophet Yusuf’s journey, from being sold into slavery to becoming a leader, serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of leadership and responsibility.

While calling to action for good leadership, Sheikh Eleha urged government leaders, including the President, Governors, Senators, Representatives, Commissioners, and Chairmen/Chairladies, to prioritize the safety and well-being of citizens.

He emphasized that their actions on earth will determine their return in the presence of Allah (The Almighty God).

Citing the example of Prophet Yusuf’s leadership in Egypt, where he resolved the calamities that befell the country, Sheikh Imran Eleha implored the Nigerian government to emulate such acts of good governance.

He stressed the need for effective management of the country’s resources to ensure good health and well-being for all citizens.

The story of Prophet Yusuf offers valuable lessons for our leaders on good governance highlighting the importance below.

1. Prioritizing citizens’ well-being and safety.

2. Effective resource management.

3. Leadership accountability.

4. Compassion and empathy.

As we reflect on these lessons, we must strive to build a society that values the well-being of all citizens.

By doing so, we can create a brighter future for ourselves and future generations.

In a call for Unity among others, Sheikh Eleha’s lecture serves as a reminder that good governance is essential for the prosperity and progress of our nation.

Let us work together to build a society that is just, equitable, and compassionate.

By prioritizing the well-being of our citizens and promoting good governance, we can create a better future for all Nigerians.
