By Morris Nor// The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) have praised the renovation, remodelling, and commissioning of the National Arts Theatre at Iganmu, Lagos.

โ€ŽIn a statement signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, the media group described the new structure as innovative and remarkable.

โ€Ž It said: “We note that the edifice is a national monument that has been abandoned over the years by successive administrations.

โ€Ž”This iconic national monument boosts the culture, tradition, and tourism potential of the country. We also acknowledge it as a centre of tourism, entertainment and international conferences and events.

โ€Ž”Also, the renaming of the centre as the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts symbolises the President Bola Tinubu administrationโ€™s recognition of the Nobel laureateโ€™s accomplishments in the literary world as well as his global acceptance as a creative mind.

โ€Ž”It is noted that the project was executed by the Bankersโ€™ committee at a cost of N68 billion and carried out under a joint corporate social responsibility initiative in the tail end of the former President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

โ€Ž”Based on the interest President Tinubu attached to the project, it was delivered within a record period of four years. It is also worthy of note that while the project slowed down at a point, completion under the President Tinubu administration has become a source of pride to all Nigerians and Africans.

โ€Ž”We are glad that it has regained its position as the centre of culture, entertainment and the national monument. There is no doubt that the National Arts Theatre represents Nigeriaโ€™s national heritage and a centre for international events.

โ€Ž”We recall that the centre was built for the FESTAC 77 and since then has transformed into a remarkable national edifice for which Nigerians derive pride and satisfaction.”

โ€ŽThe group also applauds the decision of the Tinubu administration to restore the once decrepit monument to a national pride.
