FG’s ₦32.9bn Health Fund: Rinsola Abiola Urges Nigerians to Monitor, Engage, and Act
By Morris Nor// Hon. Rinsola Abiola, Director General of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre, has called on Nigerians to actively participate in safeguarding the nation’s health resources following the Federal Government’s release of ₦32.9 billion through the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF).
Her statement follows the Federal Ministry of Health’s “Red Letter” issued on October 22, 2025, which emphasized citizens’ responsibility in protecting the health of the nation.
According to Abiola, “Citizens’ action is the heartbeat of good governance and effective service delivery.” She described the release of ₦32.9 billion as a bold and commendable step toward strengthening Nigeria’s primary healthcare system, praising the Renewed Hope Administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for its commitment to the well-being of Nigerians.
“The Federal Government’s release of ₦32.9 billion through Basic Health Care Provision Fund is a commendable step toward strengthening primary healthcare across Nigeria. We commend the Renewed Hope Administration – ably led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR – for this bold and timely investment in the health and well-being of Nigerians,” Abiola said.
She further emphasized that the success of this initiative depends on active citizen participation, urging Nigerians to visit their local health facilities, join or support their ward health committees, monitor how funds are utilized, and hold leaders accountable.
“Now, it’s over to us — the citizens. Let’s get involved:
1. Visit your local health facility.
2. Join or support the health committee in your ward.
3. Monitor how funds are used.
4. Hold leaders accountable,” she added.
Ms. Abiola noted that transparency and sustainability in governance thrive when citizens engage directly with development processes.
“When citizens participate, transparency grows and progress becomes sustainable,” she stated.
Her message aligns with the call from the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, which urged Nigerians to take ownership of the health fund, ensure accountability, and help protect the ₦32.9 billion investment meant for primary health facilities across all wards in the country.
