By Morris Nor// The Nigeria Police Academy successfully conducted the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Interview for cadets of Regular Course 7 from October 22 to 25, 2025. The interview board was led by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of the Department of Training and Development, DIG Frank Emaka Mba, MNI, who assessed the cadets’ preparedness for the upcoming Passing Out Parade (POP) and their overall suitability for policing duties.

In his address to the cadets, DIG Mba emphasized the importance of discipline, professionalism, and continuous self-development. He urged them to prepare themselves for the challenges of policing in an increasingly technological society, reminding them that “it is not over until it is over,” and that any breach of the law or misconduct, even at this stage, could still result in dismissal.

The Commandant of the Academy, AIG Patrick A. Atayero, MSc (UK), MBA (USA), psc, alongside his management team, was present throughout the exercise, lending support and reinforcing the Academy’s commitment to producing officers of high character and competence.

On October 25, 2025, DIG Mba inspected the POP rehearsals and commended the Academy for its high standards. He was particularly impressed by the inclusion of a female cadet officer in the Colour Party, describing it as a reflection of the Inspector General of Police’s commitment to gender inclusion in policing. He also witnessed an impressive combat display by the Tactical Combat Team, praising their discipline and readiness.

The IGP Interview remains a vital evaluation process in determining the cadets’ fitness for duty and their transition into the Nigeria Police Force. The date for the official Passing Out Parade will be communicated in due course.
