CONTROVERSY SURROUNDS YORUBA LAND EVENT: JOURNALIST CRITICIZES MRS. OLUREMI TINUBU’S BEHAVIOR
A heated debate has erupted in Nigeria’s political circles following a viral video of Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, wife of President-elect Tinubu, snubbing Governor Ademola Adeleke at a coronation ceremony in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Eyewitnesses and journalists present at the event expressed shock and embarrassment at the incident, which was captured on camera.
Comrade Olaywiola Ibrahim, a journalist and prominent figure, has spoken out against Mrs. Tinubu’s behavior, calling it a public embarrassment and totally unacceptable.

The sitting governor could have chosen not to attend the occasion, but how would the world react to that? Instead, he was given a raw deal in front of dignitaries and TV cameras.
Ibrahim questioned why Mrs. Tinubu, as a Yoruba woman and a prominent figure, couldn’t show respect to the governor, who was elected to office.
He is an elected governor, while she remains not in an elected office, he emphasized.
The incident has sparked widespread criticism, with many calling for Mrs. Tinubu to apologize publicly to Governor Adeleke.
It’s a trauma already, Ibrahim said. What if the governor’s wife had reacted immediately at the event? How would she feel?
Ibrahim believes Mrs. Tinubu brought politics into the event and should take responsibility for her actions.
Ending with ‘Osun le ten ten’ in her speech wasn’t the rightful step to take, he said.
She should apologize openly and show respect to the office of the governor.
The incident has raised questions about protocol, respect, and accountability in Nigerian politics.
