Eli Njuchi cancels “The Hive Experience” concert following deadly Ntcheu road accident

Malawian afro music artist, Chifuniro Magalasi popularly known as Eli Njuchi in music circles has canceled his upcoming live concert titled The Hive Experience which was scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.

The announcement was made through an official statement released by the artist, citing a tragic road accident that involved members of his band.

According to the statement, the decision to cancel the event was made out of respect for those affected by the accident and to allow time for mourning.

Eli Njuchi said the cancellation would also give him and his team the opportunity to stand in solidarity with the bereaved families during this difficult period.

The accident claimed the lives of four people and left four others seriously injured.

It occurred at Chitale in the Senzani area of Ntcheu District and involved a collision between two vehicles.

Preliminary reports indicate that the vehicles collided head on, resulting in extensive damage and multiple casualties.

One of the vehicles was carrying young men who are musicians and members of the Eli Njuchi band, deepening the sense of loss within the music community.

Those who sustained injuries were rushed to hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment for serious injuries.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Balaka District Hospital mortuary where they are being kept as funeral arrangements are made.

Hospital spokesperson Mercy Nyirenda confirmed the incident and said health workers are providing the necessary medical care to the injured.

She added that the condition of the survivors is being closely monitored by medical staff.

Meanwhile, police have not yet issued an official statement, but investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing, with more details expected to be released in due course.
